NDUTIME utilizes Parenting Wisely, which is an evidenced-based curriculum created at Ohio University by Dr. Donald Gordon.
Parenting Wisely is designed to enhance child adjustment and reduce delinquency, substance abuse, and involvement with the juvenile system. This program is geared toward parents or legal guardians who do not normally seek or complete mental health or parent education treatment for their children’s problem behaviors. Additionally, Ansell Casey Parenting curriculum is utilized to augment the parenting program.
This program teaches parents and/or guardians the following skills:
- Communication
- Assertiveness
- Discipline
- Cognitive restructuring
- Contracting
- Supervising
- Monitoring
- Daily Living Skills (i.e. Housing, transportation, and community resources, money management, self-care, social development, and work and study skills)
